Look Me In The Eyes, What Do You See?

here in Dalton Georgia there are two choices: either choose to be a part of the toxic death cycle and fall under the pressure of a meaningless but "productive" life......or..... choose to help people in whatever way you can. and live.

Henry David Thoreau is pretty dope.

you can download a few Rocky Votolato songs here

Amazing Grace

How sweet the sound.

Sufjan Stevens Christmas album

Today is Christmas. I sat alone in a red comfortable chair and finished my leftover meal, made some desert toast and chipped away at a small piece of good chocolate.

Opened the second book in C.S. Lewis' Space Trilogy, Perelandra. This is what I find:

"The distinction between natural and supernatural, in fact, broke down; and when it had done so, one realizes how great a comfort it had been- how it had eased the burden of intolerable strangeness which this universe imposes on us by dividing it into two halves and encouraging the mind never to think of both in the same context. What price we may have paid for this comfort in the way of false security and accepted confusion of thought is another matter."

Passing Through Unconscious States

been a long time coming

so im still just looking for a job. i guess my choices are:

1. wait till the new year and begin substitute teaching for 50 bucks a day
2. work third shift in a carpet factory for 11/hr
3. get a job at some grocery store stocking items for around 6.50/hr
4. try to get a job at my old carpet factory for 9.50/hr
5. work at Walgreens for around 6.5o/hr

all of the above arent too appetizing, but we'll see what happens

Psalm 12 was pretty good.

thats about it. not a whole lot going on.

Trent Hunter, or a long lost Hunter Cousin

sometimes when you are trying to get into Yahoo mail they have fun little pictures to promote their product. well i notices that this one particular picture either looks like Trent with long hair, or it just reminds me of him.. cant decide between the two.

i bought Pedro The Lion's newest Christmas 7" single, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. i think there are only going to be 2000 of them, so if you want one, go get it now.

Second Chances

so i've settled not to go to UGA this spring, but instead to stay in Dalton and work fulltime and maybe move out of my mother's house.

why? well i suppose i wasn't ready to take out another $20,000 somethin dollar loan on a quest that im not so sure of.

ive been seeing a counselor for a few weeks now and things are going pretty good with that.
i dont want to have to give up on that for more schooling that im not totally sure i am 100% into.

the way i see it, being free from some real shit and having freedom for my soul is worth more to me than some dumbass degree right now. i guess i can kind of think of it like this: "This is your second chance man. Go for it." i can get a degree anytime.

"Count it a blessing that you're such a failure, your second chance might never have come."- Pedro The Lion *Pedro has a new limited edition Christmas single for sale!!

*why did brandon owens ponder about me writing a book about love? i know nothing for sure about love.

i am however thinking about starting up an anonymous blog that would be a timeline of my life and thoughts and stories earliest thoughts up until now. i figure without anyone knowing who is writing it will allow me to fully dislcose the wonderful and the effed up things in my life without feeling wierd.

You Little Stinker Cont'd

So the quest continues.. I suppose that You Little Stinker would be either an incognito John Lull, or a member of the Green family. Beyond that, this devious little stinker has me fooled.

I'm toying with the idea of no more blogging for a while. It's kind of an interesting idea.

There is a sweet book called Carpet Capitol: Rise Of The New South, or something like that. I read it on poop breaks at Dalton State College. It's an optimistic look at the carpet industry here in the Carpet Capitol of the World, Dalton GA. Of course if you can read between the lines you pick up interesting facts such as our dependence on cheap labor (illegal immigrants) and our grotesque use of our local water supplies: Dalton's use- 10% residential, 90% industrial. Normal city usage? 10% industrial, 90% residential.

What does all this mean? Well when you read the slip ups and comments about the carpet industry being CLOSELY tied in with the local water and power Utilities, you begin to see a trend of Factory Dollar First, Health of Inhabitants Last.

Joe Kirby, a local friend who survived cancer, said that his doctor told him that Dalton has one of America's highest cancer and asthma rates.

Interesting...... you can usually see a grey film circling the city of Dalton as you drive in from I-75. The water has nice a Chlorine taste and smell. Oh yeah, and when you drink from water fountains you see the pretty stains that the water drops produce.

The good thing? Shaw Industries is cleaning up it's act, a little bit.

Of course, not being locally owned anymore I assume the efforts to clean up will be slackened.
