So the quest continues.. I suppose that
You Little Stinker would be either an incognito John Lull, or a member of the Green family. Beyond that, this devious little stinker has me fooled.
I'm toying with the idea of no more blogging for a while. It's kind of an interesting idea.
There is a sweet book called Carpet Capitol: Rise Of The New South, or something like that. I read it on poop breaks at Dalton State College. It's an optimistic look at the carpet industry here in the Carpet Capitol of the World, Dalton GA. Of course if you can read between the lines you pick up interesting facts such as our dependence on cheap labor (illegal immigrants) and our grotesque use of our local water supplies: Dalton's use- 10% residential, 90% industrial. Normal city usage? 10% industrial, 90% residential.
What does all this mean? Well when you read the slip ups and comments about the carpet industry being CLOSELY tied in with the local water and power Utilities, you begin to see a trend of Factory Dollar First, Health of Inhabitants Last.
Joe Kirby, a local friend who survived cancer, said that his doctor told him that Dalton has one of America's highest cancer and asthma rates.
Interesting...... you can usually see a grey film circling the city of Dalton as you drive in from I-75. The water has nice a Chlorine taste and smell. Oh yeah, and when you drink from water fountains you see the pretty stains that the water drops produce.
The good thing? Shaw Industries is cleaning up it's act, a little bit.
Of course, not being locally owned anymore I assume the efforts to clean up will be slackened.
