Totally Awesome
I sold my old pair of Totally Thrashed shoes on Ebay for $20.
The lengths that Chuck fans will go to.
On a different note, I found out Reeve is in a new band. What a sneaky fellow, thinks he can play music without us knowing.
They caught him on Youtube, he is playing guitar and singing, you'll notice him right away. Click the link for the video on Reeve's website.
Good stuff Reeve.

the final days
everyday around lunchtime, outside the Ecology school, three professors play bluegrass tunes.
you can simply sit on granite walls, basking under Riverbirch, near reflecting ponds filled with fish and aquatic plantings, and listen to the sounds that maybe once inhabited the area, before the school's foundation, before the cotton boom across piedmont georgia, after the removal of the inhabitants of the land, during the drought of 2007, during the wars of the 90s and 2000s.
whispering among the reeds of the river oats, passing with every cloud, wanting with the dry soil,
begging like the quiet buildings full of books, begging for someone to come, read, list, learn. act.
utterly enjoyable.

im sitting in a cafe.
the cafe reeks of cleaning products.
the cafe shares a room with some kind of church.
everything is clean.
the coffee is horrible.
noone seems to notice the VOCs that we are breathing.
there is shitty music playing on a shitty radio.
it seems as if everyone here is expecting a clean god, a white god.
a white god who loves synthetic chemicals.

Electioneering
What lengths do we go to, to sell?
The Apostle Paul said I came not with convincing words, but by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Did we lose something?
Do we fear that there is no power in the Holy Spirit?
Do we think His power is something that we associate with power?
Blessed are the poor in spirit. The meek shall inherit the kingdom.
That prophet sat on the mountain, seeking the Lord.
He came with a still small voice. He was not in the thunder, He was not in the earthquake, He was not in the powerful wind.
A still, small,
voice.

Update
Lots of John Steinbeck.
The God of Small Things - Arundhati Roy.
Till We Have Faces - Clive Staples Lewis.
Slave States - Fredrick Law Olmsted.
Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee - Dee Brown.
Also, I bought a shitload of Douglas Coupland, and I'm not being let down at all.
Am I ever going to read a crappy book?
Doubt it.
